Happy Healthy Holidays
What is WF Happy Healthy Holidays?
The WF Happy Healthy Holidays programme is aimed at providing healthy food and enriching activities for primary and secondary school aged children who are eligible for income based free school meals.
For the summer holidays eligible children can access a variety of activity and sport sessions at no cost to you. The session will also include a healthy meal.
These sessions will be delivered by a number of providers across the Wakefield district, such as schools, voluntary and community organisations, and childcare providers.
The sessions are fully funded by the Department for Education (DfE). Visit the government website for more information on the national programme.

Spring 2025
Day 1 of #HAF2025 started with a wonderful visit from our furry rescue friends at West Yorkshire Fire and Rescue Service and their handler John. We enjoyed a brilliant demonstration of the role our canine friends play in keeping us safe. The afternoon sunshine joined us for a community litter pick with Chris from @vicohomes and children worked hard to make their local space cleaner.
Day 1
Day 2
Day 2 of #HAF2025 started with a lovely visit from our furry friend Hope and her owner Michelle who were joined by Haley from Wakefield District Sight Aid. Children tested out different glasses to experience the difficulties of having sight impairments and listened to Michelle discuss her life with a Guide Dog. We were greeted by the sunshine again for a brilliant afternoon of sports with Andy from Evergreen Active.
Day 3
Day 3 of #HAF2025 started bright and early with a trip to Anglers Country Park to visit the Witch and her animal friends on the walking trail. Children enjoyed finding each character and finished the day with ice cream treat funded by Vico Homes (WDH)
Day 4
The final day of #HAF2025 was bright and sunny for all of us! Caroline from RSPCA Leeds, Wakefield & District Branch: Animal Centre taught us all about the fantastic work they do and how we can help to look after our furry friends. Dinner was packed full of healthy vegetarian treats. We enjoyed the afternoon of sunshine with Andy from Evergreen Active participating in lots of sporting activities. We ended the day with one of our own staff, Ellie, treating the children to a handmade Easter egg filled with goodies.
