Volunteering & Our Community Pantry
St Swithun’s Community Centre is an independent charity and is not funded by the Council or any statutory bodies. Everything we do is made possible through the generosity, time and kindness of our community. Volunteers are at the heart of our work, and we are always pleased to hear from people who would like to get involved.
We offer a warm welcome, full training, and the chance to make a real difference. Volunteer opportunities include:
-
Community pantry support
-
Café support
-
Office and reception duties
-
Children’s holiday activities
-
Building and maintenance support
Please speak to the office if you’re interested in volunteering.
One way volunteers support our work is through our community pantry, a welcoming, volunteer‑led service created to support local people and strengthen our neighbourhood. We believe strong communities grow when people look out for one another. Whether someone needs extra support with food or simply wants to give back, everyone is treated with dignity, respect and compassion.
Each week, we provide food and essential household items to individuals and families, helping to ease everyday pressures. The pantry is more than food—it’s a safe, friendly space where people can connect and feel supported.
If you would like to volunteer, access support, donate, or find out more, please get in touch with us. Together, we can continue building a stronger, kinder community.
