❄️ Winter 2023/24 – Happy Healthy Holidays Highlights
#HAF2024 – A Season of Energy, Creativity & Community

Our Winter 2023/24 Happy Healthy Holidays (#HAF2024) kicked off the new year with excitement, movement, and meaningful moments for children and families across the community.

🏃 Day 1: Active Bodies & Tasty Creations
The fantastic Andy joined us on day one, bringing energy and fun with action-packed games like rolling ladders and dodgeball. These high-energy activities not only got hearts racing but also built up healthy appetites!

After refuelling with a delicious, freshly prepared lunch from the centre’s café, Andy returned to guide us through a hands-on cooking session. The children had a brilliant time learning how to prepare their own balanced meals—a fun and empowering way to understand nutrition and healthy living.

📚 Day 2: Stories, Crafts & New Year Cheer
Our second day brought a spark of imagination as we welcomed Amy and Liz from Wakefield Libraries. Their engaging winter-themed session encouraged creativity and stretched our storytelling skills.

In the afternoon, the festive spirit came alive with parents joining us for an array of craft activities. From winter wonders to heartfelt New Year’s resolutions, it was a wonderful way to reflect and create lasting memories as a community.

🎨 Final Day: Art, Nature & Inspiration
To close our Winter HAF 2024, we set off on a scenic winter walk to The Hepworth Wakefield, where children discovered the fascinating world of local artist Barbara Hepworth. Inspired by her iconic sculptures, they explored shape, space, and material, before diving into a creative workshop of their own.

Each child designed and built a Hepworth-inspired sculpture, proudly taking home a piece of artistic expression and a deeper connection to their cultural heritage.
