❄️ Winter 2021 – Happy Healthy Holidays Recap
#HAF2021 – Olympic Fun & Creative Adventures
Our Winter 2021 Happy Healthy Holidays at Eastmoor Community Centre have been filled with excitement, creativity, and tons of activity! The week’s theme centered around the Olympics and its ancient Greek origins, with each day offering new ways for the children to learn, play, and get involved.
🏅 Day 1: Olympic Crafts & Games
The first day was all about introducing the Olympic spirit. The children had a great time crafting their own mini Olympians, laurel wreaths, and Olympic torches. They also enjoyed participating in Olympic-style games outdoors, embracing both competition and teamwork.
🎢 Day 2: Trip to Wheelgate Park
On Day 2, the adventure took us to Wheelgate Park for an exciting trip filled with fun rides, outdoor exploration, and lots of laughs. It was a perfect day out for everyone to enjoy some thrills and fresh air!
🎭 Day 3: Dance, Theatre & Physical Activities
Day 3 saw the children engaging in creative arts with Stride Theatre, where they had a blast with dance and theatre role play. To keep the energy up, they also participated in physical activities, making sure they stayed active and engaged throughout the day.
🛡️ Day 4: Greek Shields & Acts of Kindness
On the final day of the week, the children wrapped up their Olympic journey by making their own Greek shields, continuing to explore the ancient Greek theme. In the spirit of kindness, the children also created beautiful handmade cards as a random act of kindness for elderly residents in local care homes. It was a heartfelt gesture that spread joy and brought the children’s creativity to those who might need it most.
We invite you to join in the kindness by downloading the No1 Card template and making your own cards at home!
Looking Ahead
This week of Winter 2021 Happy Healthy Holidays has been filled with fun, creativity, and learning. From Olympic-inspired activities to acts of kindness, the children have embraced every moment. We look forward to more adventures, crafts, and learning in the weeks to come!
🥁 Drumming Workshop Fun
The children also took part in an exciting Drumming Workshop. Check out the pictures below to see just how much fun they had as they explored rhythm, music, and teamwork through this engaging activity!
🎭 A Day of Creativity: Jack and the Beanstalk Pantomime Performance
This week, the children at St. Swithun’s Community Centre have been busy working on a fantastic project: creating their very own pantomime, Jack and the Beanstalk! Over the course of the week, they have written the script, sourced the music, designed the set, and rehearsed their roles. Every child put in a tremendous amount of effort and worked hard to bring this beloved classic to life.
The culmination of their hard work was a final performance that took place today, and we were thrilled to have a special guest, Cllr. Olivia Rowley, in attendance. Olivia enjoyed the show immensely and praised the children for their creativity, dedication, and teamwork in putting the pantomime together. She wished them all the best for the upcoming winter break and encouraged them to continue pursuing their creative passions.
Following the performance, the children spent the afternoon engaging in a variety of fun activities, including games, crafts, cards, and decorations, all of which were beautifully made and proudly displayed at the community centre.
It has been a truly memorable week filled with laughter, creativity, and team spirit, and we couldn’t be more proud of all the children’s hard work and achievements.
A Fun-Filled Finale
The final day of our Winter Happy Healthy Holidays was packed with excitement! The children and their families enjoyed a disco filled with music and dancing, party games, and plenty of party food. It was a wonderful way to wrap up the sessions, celebrating the festive season and all the fun we had throughout the week.
To top it off, families were given parcels containing a variety of food and gifts, which they could take home to enjoy during the holidays.
Happy Holidays, Everyone!
As the Winter Happy Healthy Holiday sessions came to a close, we couldn’t be more proud of all the hard work, creativity, and teamwork that went into making this a memorable and fun-filled week. We hope everyone has a joyful holiday season and we look forward to welcoming you back soon!
